The Solution

To manage Tacoma’s seasonal rainfall, dry cobblestone creek beds with large foundation boulders were installed to allow efficient water flow and prevent erosion while becoming a signature design element across the property.

The plant palette was chosen to celebrate Pacific Northwest diversity and deliver bold, seasonal displays. Rarely used but striking perennials such as epimedium, astrantia, big-leaf geraniums, and hydrangea paniculatas were planted in mass groupings for eye-catching color blocks and texture variation.

In addition, ornamental grasses, low-maintenance groundcovers, and evergreen shrubs provide structure and interest all year long.
